Round trip coach servicefrom Collier County will be provided. The program will end at noon on Sunday, March 18. This program will begin at Big Pine Key, Florida, Sunday, Maat noon and will consist of four groups of up to22 students, minimum age of 15 years. An approved medical form and profile sheet will be required for all participants. This includes food, instruction, camping, and specialized equipment while on the program.

Through a generous grant from John and Jackie Remington and Lavern Gaynor of Naples, Florida, all participants will receive a FULL SCHOLARSHIP (value $1645) from Hurricane Island Outward Bound upon being accepted into the pro-gram. Each individual will be asked to attempt all activities, but we are an organization that believes in "challenge by choice". Participants should be in moderately good shape. Rather, Outward Bound encourages individ-uals to reach beyond their self-imposed limitations to discover new strengths and abilities, all within a supportive, safe envi-ronment. Some of these skills include no-trace camping, shelter construction, meal preparation, map & compass reading, and emergency first aid.Īlthough the program sounds (and can be) strenuous, the goals are not physical. Outward Bound calls these essential tools "hard skills". Host: Hurricane Island Outward Bound School Price: 375 Tuition includes a cabin bunk or tent site plus meals from lunch on day 1 thru lunch on day 2. As the program progresses, new and more sophisticated skills are taught.
Participants will learn sailing and navigation skills in the Florida Keys. The Hurricane Island Outward Bound/Collier County School program will be designed specifically for students from Collier County Schools.
